How to prep your hair for your Nikkah day
The single biggest mistake we see on Nikkah day is a fresh colour service three days before. Colour needs ten to fourteen days to settle — the cuticle layer takes that long to fully close. Fresh colour under heavy wedding lighting tends to photograph flatter than colour that has had a chance to breathe.
Two weeks out is also when you should book your bridal trial if you have not already. A trial lets us decide on the exact silhouette — half-up, low bun, soft curls, or a sculpted chignon — and rehearse the timeline. We will time the styling to within ten minutes on the day.
One week out, get your hair washed and smoothed at home with a gentle sulphate-free shampoo. Avoid deep oiling in the three days before the event — oils sit in the cuticle and can weigh down the style.
On the morning, come with dry, slightly dirty hair. Day-two or day-three hair holds styling better than freshly washed hair. Bring your dupatta and jewellery — we will fit the style around the set.
Finally: eat breakfast. Four hours of styling on an empty stomach is a lot harder on you than you think. Our Dharti suite has a small tea and breakfast setup for brides and their family.
